The Queen misses a day at the races
October 2006
Just as the UK launches it's biggest back pain campaign, the Queen had to cancel attending a trip to the Newmarket races because of a strained muscle in her back.
It's pretty unusual for the Queen to miss out on any engagements, and it's happened only a handful of times, but the eighty year old sovereign was unable to attend the races where the races had all been named after horses that she had previously owned.
It is suspected that getting in and out of limousines may be partly to blame, as the awkward getting in and out may make any existing problem worse.
