Chill Out & Slouch!

That's the advice of recent research into back pain!

We've always been told to sit up straight, but in fact, slouching holds our spins in a much more natural position!

When in a standing position, there is little pressure on the spine and disc, yet sitting down at a 90 degree angle can cause significantly more wear and tear on the discs in the back than a more relaxed posture.

Although this is only theoretical at the moment - it does indicate that sitting at an angle that you find comfortable may be your way of listening to you what your body is telling you.

It's early days yet, and the statistics for this study were based on less than thirty people, so there's more research to be done yet.

However, this looks like a promising step forward in helping people to cope with chronic back pain.
